Date Of May 13 Figures Into Apparitions And Miraculous Events On World Stage
There is something about May 13. It's the anniversary of the first appearance of the Virgin Mary at Fatima, and a date that weaves its way into many subsequent miracles. It was on May 13, 1981, that Pope John Paul II was shot by an assassin who many believe was linked to the Soviets, and this is relevant because the Fatima message was largely focused on this same threat of Russia (from the rise of Communism mentioned in the first part of the Fatima secret to the request that the Pope consecrate that wayward nation to avert tragedy). The Pope miraculously survived -- giving credit to the Virgin -- and it became John Paul II, of course, who not only conducted the requested consecration but was also instrumental (with his support of Lech Walesa) in the collapse of Communism. We remember how, as Communism was falling in Europe in 1989, Walesa was pictured on the front page of the International World Tribune with a smiling Fatima statue behind him!
There are many historical events that have occurred on this date, including other apparitions. Just the other day, we spoke to a Florida man who had three dreams that inspired him to return to his homeland of Greece and a spot where he found a remarkable 18th-century icon of Mary. His last dream occurred last May 13. Perhaps you have seen this yourselves. On a personal note, it was exactly two years ago today that the pilot edition of Spirit Daily first began, and our very first headline upon assuming full operation was release of the Fatima secret.
May is a month during which Mary is especially close to all of us, a time to implore her, to re-establish our relationship with her, to call on her. She listens with special intensity during May and can help you bring back anything you feel you may have spiritually lost.
Meanwhile, what about the third secret of Fatima? Was it really released in its entirety?
As many of you know, there has been some controversy over this, but Sister Lucia, the sole surviving Fatima seer (who just released a book, which we will be making available), says what the Vatican issued was the entire message. And it does flow perfectly with the theme of Communism, focused as it is on martyrdom. Just last week a report was released showing that of the 70 million who have given their lives for the faith in the past 2,000 years, more than 45 million, or 65 percent, did so in the twentieth century -- many due to what Fatima had so ardently warned against: atheistic Communism!
Indeed, according to Sister Lucia, the third secret showed "a Bishop dressed in white ‘we had the impression that it was the Holy Father.' Other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious going up a steep mountain, at the top of which there was a big Cross of rough-hewn trunks as of a cork-tree with the bark; before reaching there the Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the souls of the corpses he met on his way; having reached the top of the mountain, on his knees at the foot of the big Cross he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him, and in the same way there died one after another the other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious, and various lay people of different ranks and positions. Beneath the two arms of the Cross there were two Angels each with a crystal aspersorium in his hand, in which they gathered up the blood of the Martyrs and with it sprinkled the souls that were making their way to God."
PS-- we believe the secrets of Fatima have now led us to the secrets of Medjugorje, which the Pope has called "the fulfillment of Fatima" -- and where a statue of the Virgin in St. James Church resembles the Fatima Virgin, as seen below]
But we also think there may be one more surprise to come out of Fatima.
PPS-- we note after the first edition of this story that, May 13, there was another major nuclear arms treaty between the U.S. and Russia, announced by Bush Monday (2002)!
