When It Comes To 'Extraterrestrials,' Great Caution Is The Order Of The Day
By Michael H. Brown
A few days ago the new movie Signs premiered, but at the same time, all the electrical power went out. There was a blackout in our area that lasted for hours and nixed the premier.
I don't know if that too was a sign (it seemed more like the result of the hot weather and an overextended power grid), but I always pay close attention to coincidence and I'm interested in this new Signs movie (starring staunch Catholic Mel Gibson) because it has to do with UFOs and what they now call "aliens." I've been researching these phenomena since I was a kid and I always urge tremendous caution. I don't like to delve into evil any more than I have to, but there are times we have to air certain matters -- certain possible dangers -- and this may be one.
Please pray before you get caught up with anything that has to do with so-called "UFOs." There may well be intelligent beings on others planets. There may well be "aliens." But for the most part -- from what I can tell in looking at the issue since the 1960s -- many if not most (if not all) of those "sightings" that are inexplicable (that are not jets or satellites or simple hoaxes) have a spiritual element.
Unfortunately, the spiritual element is not good and in some cases seems strongly evil (leaving the feeling of grit). It's very seductive -- fascinating -- but there is something here that is highly suspect. Why, for instance, do aliens so often terrorize those who encounter them? Why do they leave the smell of sulfur? Why are they not in God's image? Why do many aliens look like ancient voodoo figures? Why do psychic phenomena and poltergeist activity erupt around close encounters? How is it that so many extraterrestrials teleport and go through walls like classic spirits when they're supposed to need flying saucers for transport? And why (like familial spirits) do they follow families for generations? Why do they haunt certain places and people? Why do they so often appear over ancient pagan sites or Indian burial areas or places of witchcraft?
I don't know if the Signs movie has anything to do with this negative side. It has to do with "crop circles." As you are perhaps aware, for several decades now (and really going back further), strange patterns have been found in corn, barley, and wheat fields -- swirls that defy explanation because of how symmetrical or geometric they are, or how they bend the stalks without breaking them.
Some have been found to be hoaxes, but others have been exceedingly difficult to explain, and these have included symbols like the ying-yang and old Egyptian or Babylonian-style hieroglyphs, with implications that hearken back to the pyramids (those great pagan mysteries) -- in a word, occult symbols.
Are these entities from outer space trying to give us "signs" -- to contact us -- or might this be a spiritual manifestation?
There are some crop circles that exhibit strange evidence (magnetite residue, or spherical iron particles). There is the chance that a kind of electromagnetic force was present. Some believe that certain of the circles are the result of unusual atmospheric currents, but even if this is the case, we all know who the "prince of the power of the air" is (see Ephesians 2:2). One expert, Kim Sherwood of Santa Monica, believes crop circles are caused by a "global poltergeist."
A poltergeist is a violent ghost -- often, a demon. Might this be the case here too? Many fear that evil spirits are taking the guise of extraterrestrials (often lovable extraterrestrials) just as in decades past they disguised themselves as gremlins, wood nymphs, leprechauns, fairies and -- well, you get the picture. Heed these alleged words from the Virgin of LaSalette: "The demons of the air along the with anti-christ will perform great wonders on earth and in the atmosphere."
We're not saying to avoid this movie. We're not sure. We may see it ourselves. But we believe that evil spirits -- in some cases under the guise of outer spacemen -- are all around and that they can be dangerous. We have had distraught folks tell us their horror stories. It can be very similar to possession. Certainly many UFO sightings and crop circles are hoaxes, and perhaps even a phenomenon of nature. But at least 20 percent have not yet been explained.
Extraterrestrials? Demons?
In those twenty percent, sure, there could be an extraterrestrial intelligence; the Vatican itself is open to this; there are millions of planets. But it may also be a part of an end-game scenario, a way for spirits to influence, to infiltrate -- what we call "the great deception."
